Pitt-Johnstown junior second baseman Nick Barbera (Harrisburg, Pa.) and junior starting pitcher Kaleb Fleck (Claysburg, Pa.) were named 2010 Second Team All-WVIAC by the conference baseball coaches on Thursday. Five other Mountain Cats garnered honorable mention all-conference honors. Concord's Greyson Schram earned WVIAC Player and Hitter of the Year honors, while Wheeling Jesuit's Noah Mull was named Pitcher of the Year. Barbera, an Honorable All-WVIAC choice and a First-Team All-Region selection a year ago, leads Pitt-Johnstown in hitting (.412), hits (61), runs (46), on-base percentage (.465) and at-bats (148) entering the WVIAC Tournament. He is also second on the team in total bases (78) and third in slugging percentage (.527).
Fleck, a First-Team choice last season, is 2-2 with a 4.75 E.R.A. in 28.1 innings-pitched. His 27 strikeouts are tied for second on the team.
Pitcher/outfielder Drew Shaulis (Somerset, Pa.) (7-1, 43 strikeouts, .363 batting average), closers Mike McDermott (Nanty-Glo, Pa.) (5 saves) and Jon Moore (Leechburg, Pa.) (5 saves), catcher Justin Demek (Cabot, Pa.) (.313 average, 5 homeruns, 6 doubles, 26 RBI) and designated hitter Zach Martin (Irwin, Pa.) (.367 average, 6 doubles, 2 homeruns, 39 RBI) were all named Honorable Mention All-WVIAC.
