PITT-JOHNSTOWN MOUNTAIN CATS

Women's Soccer Johnstown, Pa.

2013 Women's Soccer Season Preview

The 2013 Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer program will look much different in more ways than one.  Not only will the Lady Cat's move on from the now defunct West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) to become members of the Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference (PSAC), but Pitt-Johnstown will also welcome Rachel Smith as the program's third head coach.

Pitt-Johnstown is looking forward to its debut as a new member of the PSAC.  With seven returning starters from last year's 11-7-0 squad, the Lady Cats are confident they can make an impact in the new conference from the start.

Coach Smith, who spent the previous three seasons as an assistant at Southern New Hampshire University, and assistant coach and former Lady Cat soccer standout Gena Pentz, look to guide Pitt-Johnstown in the right direction in 2013.
They'll rely on captains Kate McGrath (SR, D, Johnstown, Pa.), Jackie Becerra (SR, F, Saddle Brook, NJ) and Savanna Wingard (JR, F, Johnstown, Pa.) to help lead the team.

With eight matches at home and nine on the road, the Lady Cats are gearing up for a full schedule of seventeen games, including sixteen PSAC matches and a non-conference match at Ohio Valley (WV) University. The Lady Cats look forward to September 7 when they will host conference rival Clarion University in the school's first ever home PSAC event.  In addition, Pitt-Johnstown will bid farewell to this year's seniors on November 2 against Seton Hill University.

With a full roster of 27 players, the Lady Cats are anticipating a successful 2013 season and hope to earn the opportunity to continue to play after the final regular season match!
