Mahoney, a native of Yorktown, VA and a graduate of Grafton High School, won PSAC East Freshman of the Year last season, in addition to earning a spot on the all-conference first team each of her first two years at Pitt-Johnstown. Mahoney had the second-best hitting percentage in the PSAC (.348) during the regular season and was a two-time PSAC Athlete of the Week during the 2015 season.

Entering Thursday's NCAA Atlantic Regional Volleyball Tournament, Mahony was averaging 2.35 kills per set and a team-best .85 kills per set. Her .343 hitting percentage, 20 solo blocks, and 88 total blocks all lead the Lady Cats, while her 298 kills rank third on the team. Additionally, Mahony is second on the team with 41 service aces.
