Ian Vescovi scored a game-high 22 points and
Matt Palo added 15 points in their final games as Mountain Cats, but 24
th-ranked and PSAC-West No. 3 seeded Indiana (PA) built a 14-point halftime lead and went on to end sixth-seeded Pitt-Johnstown's season with an 82-63 home win in Saturday's first round of the 2015 PSAC Tournament. Pitt-Johnstown finished with a 12-15 overall record.
Pitt-Johnstown kept it close early. A 3-pointer from
Nate Snodgrass gave the Mountain Cats 9-5 advantage, before Indiana (PA) came back to knot it at 11 on Daddy Ugbede's lay-up at 14:34 of the first half.
The Mountain Cats answered with a bucket from Vescovi and a Palo 3-pointer to rebuilt their lead to five a minute later, but the Crimson Hawks went on a 19-5 run over the next nine minutes to open-up a nine-point lead of their own.
Indiana (PA) regained the lead 20-19 on Shawn Dyer's 3-pointer, and two free-throws from Ugbede with 4:42 left in the capped the run and put the Crimson Hawks in front 30-21.
Pitt-Johnstown used five points from
A.J. Leahey to narrow the gap to 32-26, but Indiana (PA) outscored Pitt-Johnstown 12-4 the rest of the way to extend its lead to 14.
The Crimson Hawks pushed it into double figures on Tevin Hanner's dunk with a minute to go, before Devante Chance's lay-up with three seconds left put Indiana (PA) up 4430 at the half.
It was more of the same for Pitt-Johnstown in the second half. Each time the Mountain Cats would cut the deficit, the Crimson Hawks would counter.
Two free-throws from Palo three minutes into the second half got Pitt-Johnstown to within eight at 44-36, but Indiana (PA) followed with a 14-6 spurt to push it out to 58-42 on a bucket from Jeremy Jeffers with 10:48 remaining.

Ajan Smith cut it to at 4:38 cut it to 66-55. However, the Crimson Hawks scored the next eight points and never looked back on their way to advancing to the PSAC Quarterfinals with the 19-point victory.
Vescovi led all scorers with 22 points, while Palo added 15 points and five rebounds for the Mountain Cats. Leahey had nine points, while Snodgrass chipped-in eight points and six assists, and
Dale Clancy had six points in the season-ending loss.
Vescovi finished his career ranked 21
st on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,076 points and fifth on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Rebounding List with 648 rebounds.
Pitt-Johnstown shot 41.5% (22-53) from the field, but just 4-14 from 3-point range. The Mountain Cats were also 15-18 from the free-throw line. The Crimson Hawks, who out-rebounded Pitt-Johnstown 35-24 and held a 38-20 advantage in points in the paint, shot 51.8% (29-56) from the floor, 8-19 from behind the 3-point line, and 16-17 from the charity stripe.
Chance had 18 points and Dyer tallied 17 points and six rebounds to pace five Crimson Hawks who scored in double figures.
With the win, Indiana (PA) improves to 24-5 and advances to take on second-seeded Mercyhurst in Tuesday's PSAC Quarterfinals in Erie.
