Leahey, Snodgrass Named 1st-Team CoSIDA Academic All-District

3198Pitt-Johnstown junior forward A.J. Leahey and senior guard Nate Snodgrass were named to the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) First-Team Academic All-District II Men's Basketball Team when this year's teams were released on Thursday.  Leahey has a 3.65 GPA in Mathematics, while Snodgrass has a 3.86 GPA in Management-Accounting.  Both Leahey and Snodgrass will advance to the national ballot to become Academic All-Americans... The 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Men's and Women's Basketball Teams have been announced, and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
 
The Academic All-District™ teams include the student-athletes listed on the pages above and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
 
In every Academic All-District™ team selection, the First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. This year in the basketball Academic All-District™ listings, all honorees are first team choices.

Leahey, a native of Lilly, Pa. and a graduate of Penn Cambria High School, leads Pitt-Johnstown in scoring (17.1 ppg.), rebounding (8.1), 3-point field goals (56), and blocked shots (13).  He is also second on the team in steals (28) and third in field goal percentage (49.7%) and 3-point field goal percentage (42.7%).  In addition, Leahey currently ranks 10th on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time 3-point field goals list with 151.
 
Snodgrass, who transferred to Pitt-Johnstown from Northern Kentucky University prior 2014-14 season, is second on the team in scoring (14.3 ppg.), assists (76), and free-throw percentage (85.7%).  Snodgrass, a graduate of Butler Area High School, leads the Mountain Cats in field goal percentage (51.1%), 3-point field goal percentage, and
