Indiana University (PA) used a 20-4 third quarter run and turned 33 Lady Cat turnovers into 29 points on its way to handing Pitt-Johnstown a 78-39 PSAC Western Division loss, Tuesday evening at the Kovalchick Center in Indiana.Â
Olivia McCabe had 16 points and nine rebounds and
Jamie Tabon added 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Cats, who fell to 6-7 overall and 2-5 in the PSAC West.

Carolyn Appleby scored seven of IUP's first nine points, and Lauren Wolosik connected on a pair of free-throws at the 4-minute mark of the first quarter to put the Crimson Hawks up 15-9. Pitt-Johnstown kept it close and got two of McCabe's seven first quarter points to cut it to 17-12 entering the second quarter.

However, IUP took control and outscored the Lady Cats 21-11 in the second quarter to build a 15-point halftime advantage.  Wolosik knocked down a 3-pointer to open the quarter to get the lead back out to eight, and Appleby's 3-pointer at 5:20 pushed it into double digits at 29-19. The Crimson Hawks then got a pair of buckets in the paint from Lexie Griggs to extend it to 38-21, before McCabe's free-throws at 1:11 got Pitt-Johnstown back to within 15 at 38-23 at the break.

A 3-pointer from
Victoria Moreland and another basket from McCabe early in the third quarter narrowed Pitt-Johnstown's deficit to a dozen, but the Crimson Hawks used a 20-4 run over the final 7:51 of the quarter to break it open and give IUP a commanding 60-32 advantage.

IUP built the lead to as many as 39 with 24 seconds to play and coasted it its ninth straight victory.

Along with McCabe and Tabon, Pitt-Johnstown also got five points from Moreland, four points and four rebounds from
Gabrielle Smith and six rebounds and a pair of assists from
Laurel O'Barto.

The Lady Cats struggled shooting the ball, finishing the evening at just 26.9% (14-52), including just 108 from 3-point range. IUP shot 41.5% (27-65) from the floor and 4-9 from behind the 3-point line. The Crimson Hawks also made 20 of their 26 free-throws.

Wolosik finished with a game-high 18 points and six rebounds, and Appleby chipped in 14 points to lead four IUP players who scored in double figures and help the Crimson Hawks improve to 9-2 overall and 7-0 in the PSAC West.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to a PSAC game at Edinboro on Friday, before returning home to host a conference doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Gannon on Monday starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center.
