
The Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball team will close out the first semester with a non-conference game against Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Sports Center.
Pitt-Johnstown, under
Head Coach Mike Drahos (5th year), made it four straight wins and improved to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the PSAC Western Division with a 56-34 conference crossover victory at Lock Haven University on Saturday.
Gabrielle Smith scored a game-high 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while
Tori Moreland and
Alexis Harris added 16 and 10 points, respectively, for Pitt-Johnstown.
McCabe enters this evening's game ranked 16
th on the Pitt-Johnstown Rebounding List with 658, two shy of tying
Janine Kosmack (1996-00) for 15
th-place on the list. McCabe is also 52 points away from becoming Pitt-Johnstown's 37
th 1,000-point scorer.
Head Coach Debbie Buff's (7th year) Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals, have won two of their last three games, including a 63-56 home victory over Shepherd (WV) University on Saturday. The Cardinals, 3-6 overall, were led by
Monica Burns' 17 points and six rebounds.
Chenelle Moore had 15 points and eight rebounds, and
Mariah Callen tallied 10 points for Wheeling Jesuit.
Last season, Pitt-Johnstown and Wheeling Jesuit met in the Sports Center on December 14 and the Cardinals came away with a 67-56 victory.
Jamie Tabon's 17 points and 14 rebounds and
McCabe's 15 points and 10 rebounds led the Cats. Wheeling Jesuit got a game-high 18 points from
Callen and 13 points and seven rebounds from
Kylie Frizell.
Pitt-Johnstown will break for the holiday season before traveling to Clarion for a PSAC game on December 30. Pitt-Johnstown will then host conference doubleheaders with the Mountain Cats in the Sports Center against Indiana (PA) on January 3 at 5:30 p.m. and Gannon on January at 1 p.m.
