Leahey, Vescovi named to PSAC Winter Top-10

Pitt-Johnstown men's basketball players A.J. Leahey and Isaac Vescovi earned spots on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Winter 2016-17 Top-10 Award List when this year's recipients were released on Thursday.  The PSAC Winter Top-10 award winners were chosen and voted on by the league's sports information directors. Initiated in the 1997-98 academic year, the Top 10 is given to five males and five females in each athletic season; fall, winter and spring.
 
The Winter 2016-17 award winners are Slippery Rock's Sabrina Anderson, Shippensburg's Caleb Bartlett, Seton Hill's Noah Davis, Slippery Rock's Kennedy Evans, West Chester's Tess Hayward, California's Summer Hill, Pitt-Johnstown's Leahey and Vescovi, Shippensburg's Casey Norton, and Slippery Rock's David Reinhardt.

SRU's Anderson appears on a Top-10 list for the fifth time in her career and third consecutive Winter Top 10. WCU's Hayward lands on the list for the second consecutive year while SU's Norton earns recognition for the second time this year after landing on the Fall Top-10.

To be a candidate for the PSAC Top 10 Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials for their respective team. The winter sports eligible for consideration for the Winter Top 10 Awards are men's and women's indoor track and field, wrestling and men's and women's basketball.

At the conclusion of the academic year, all Top 10 Award winners from each season are eligible for the PSAC Pete Nevins Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards, given to one male and one female candidate.
