The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams will host a PSAC Western division doubleheader against Gannon University, Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. The women will tip-off against the Golden knights at 1 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m.
Coach Mike Drahos' (5th year) Pitt-Johnstown team dropped its third straight game and slipped to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the PSAC following a 72-53 loss to third-ranked IUP, Wednesday night in the Sports Center.
Olivia McCabe's 18 points and seven rebounds led the Cats.
Gabrielle Smith had 11 points and seven rebounds, while
Tori Moreland tallied eight points and seven rebounds.
McCabe, who needs nine points to become Pitt-Johnstown's 37
th 1,000-point scorer, also stands in 13
th-place on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Rebounding List with 685.
Gannon, 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the PSAC under fifth-year
Coach Jim Brunelli, is coming off of a 71-53 loss at 10
th-ranked California (PA) on Wednesday.
Maggie Mitchell's 15 points and
Chelsea Rourke's 13 points and six rebounds led the Golden Knights.
Gannon won two close games over Pitt-Johnstown's last year.
Lanise Saunders scored 19 points and
Mitchell had 17 points to lead the Golden Knights to a 74-71 win in the Sports Center on January 9.
McCabe's 19 points and nine rebounds and
Moreland's 17 points paced Pitt-Johnstown. Gannon completed the season sweep with a 65-60 victory in Erie on February 1 behind
Mitchell's 16 points and
Rourke's 14 points.
McCabe (13 points),
Alexis Hartwick (12 points), and
Jamie Tabon (11 points) all scored in double figures for Pitt-Johnstown.
Head Coach Bob Rukavina's Mountain Cats are 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the PSAC Western Division following Wednesday's narrow 81-76 conference loss to Indiana (PA) in the Sports Center.
Josh Wise finished with 22 points, six rebounds and four steals, while
Dale Clancy had 20 points, six rebounds and five assists to lead Pitt-Johnstown.
Isaac Vescovi added 16 points,
Drew Magestro had 10 points, and
Levi Masua collected eight points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Clancy currently stands in 17
th-place on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List (1,178 points), fourth on the assists list (443), and sixth on the 3-point field goals list (180).
Vescovi ranks 24
th on the Pitt-Johnstown Scoring List with 1,054 points.
Gannon, 7-5 overall and 3-3 in the PSAC West under 13

Head Coach John T. Reilly, made it three straight wins with Wednesday's 69-66 PSAC victory at California (PA).
Zay Jackson's 15 points led a balanced attack that saw five Golden Knights score in double figures. Gannon also got 12 points from
Jair Green, 11 points apiece from
Damon Miraud and
Gerrell Williams, and 10 points and nine rebounds from
Evan Phoenix.
In a series that dates back to 1980-81, Gannon leads 21-5. The Golden Knights have won 11 of the last 13 meetings, including three wins last year. After winning a pair of close regular season games, Gannon secured a 77-67 victory in Erie on March 1 to advance to the PSAC Tournament Semifinals.
Jackson scored 22 points and
Miraud added 21 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Golden Knights, while
Vescovi's 19 points and
Wise's 14 points led four Mountain Cats who scored in double figures.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC games at Edinboro on Monday and at California (PA) on Wednesday, before hosting conference doubleheaders against Mercyhurst next Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and Slippery Rock on January 17 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
