Cody Law has been named the 2018 NCAA Division II Super Region I Wrestling Tournament Outstanding Wrestler by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) after winning his second straight regional championship at 157 lbs. on February 24.
Law, the No. 1-ranked wrestler in the country at 157 lbs., opened the tournament in the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center with a 22-7 technical fall at 3:29 over Millersville's Seth Decker before winning a 16-5 major decision over Mercyhurst's Owen Watkins in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Law erased a 6-0 deficit to fourth-seeded Eric Lewandowski (Gannon) on his way to an 11-9 decision to reach the finals where he ran out to a lead and never looked back in a 16-4 major decision over second-seeded Fernie Silva from Notre Dame (OH).
Law recorded his second consecutive Super Region I Tournament Championship since transferring to Pitt-Johnstown prior to last season.
Law will receive a personalized certificate from the NWCA prior to the National Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa on March 9.
