Cody Law (157 lbs.) became Pitt-Johnstown's 13
th and 14
th individual National Champions to lead a group of four Mountain Cat All-Americans at Friday and Saturday's 2018 NCAA Division II National Wrestling Championships at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Joining Eddins and Law as All-Americans are seventh-place finishers
Devin Austin (165 lbs.) and
D.J. Sims (285 lbs.). As a team, the Mountain Cats placed sixth with 54.5 points.
Pitt-Johnstown now has 14 individual National Champions who have combined to win 21 titles. In addition, the Mountain Cat program now boasts 149 All-Americans.
St. Cloud State won the team National Championship. Notre Dame (OH), California Baptist, Upper Iowa and Ashland rounded out the Top-5.
141 lbs. – In Saturday's semifinal against No. 3 Jarred Oftendahl (St. Cloud State), Eddins got an early first period takedown, then a reversal to start the second period that gave him a 4-0 lead. Another takedown and riding time pushed Eddins into the National title bout against top-ranked Darren Wynn (McKendree). Eddins took a 2-0 lead with a takedown two minutes into the first period. After Eddins built more than a two-minute advantage in riding time, Wynn countered with a second period reversal to tie it. In the third period, Eddins got a quick escape and riding time to claim a 4-2 decision and the title at 141 lbs.

Eddins defeated fourth-ranked Will Roarke (Maryville), 6-0, in his opener, before riding out fifth-ranked Andrew Schulte (California Baptist) in the third period and getting a point for stalling to reach the semifinals with a 3-2 win.
157 lbs. – After coasting into Saturday's semifinals, No. 1-ranked Law jumped out to quick lead over eight-ranked Jared Reis (Mary), then used a third-period takedown to pick up the 7-4 win and advance to the national title bout against No. 10 Larry Bomstad (St. Cloud State). Law took Bomstad down 50 seconds into the first period and got another takedown to start to second period to open-up a 4-0 lead. Bomstad got an escape late in the period and a takedown less than a minute into the third period to cut it to 4-3. However, Law escaped and got a point for riding time to claim his national championship with a 6-3 victory.
Law cruised into the quarterfinals with an 18-1 technical fall at 4:48 over the University of Indianapolis' Heath Lange. Law then scored a 7-1 decision over No. 9 Cortez Arredondo (Southwest Minnesota State) to join Eddins in the semifinals.
165 lbs. - Ninth-ranked
Devin Austin won a pair of matches on Friday to stay in the tournament, but suffered an 11-5 loss to No. 7 Blake Perryman (Northern State) in Saturday's consolation quarterfinals sending him to the Seventh-Place Match. Austin rode out No. 5 Seth Elwood (Minnesota State) the entire third period to break a 2-2 tie with riding time to secure seventh-place. Austin held of sixth-ranked Devin Fitzpatrick (St. Cloud State), 5-3, to begin the tournament. However, No. 3 Tyler Mann (Ouachita Baptist) got a takedown 57 seconds into the first overtime to secure a 3-1 victory over Austin. In the second round of the consolations, Austin needed overtime again. This time he took Wheeling Jesuit's Keegan Driscoll down with 23 seconds remaining to advance to Saturday's action.
285 lbs. - No. 7
D.J. Sims also had to win two matches in Friday's wrestle backs. On Saturday, fourth-ranked Caleb Cotter (Central Oklahoma) won a 14-2 major decision over Sims forcing him to wrestle for seventh-place. Sims then pinned third-ranked Jared Hinrichs (Central Oklahoma) as time expired in the third period to claim seventh-place. On Friday, Sims got a third-period takedown to force overtime, but Colorado State-Pueblo's 12
th-ranked Cody Johnson answered with a takedown of his own 19 seconds into the extra period to win, 6-4. Sims bounced back by pinning Upper Iowa's Logan Hopp at 6:28 in the first round of the consolations and winning a 6-2 decision over Kutztown's Evan Appleby in the second round of the consolations.
Corey Falleroni (149 lbs.),
Steve Edwards (174 lbs.), and
Levi Niebauer (197 lbs.) were all eliminated from the tournament on Friday.
149 lbs. - No. 3-ranked Daxton Gordon (California Baptist) dealt Falleroni a 9-1 loss to start. In the first round of the consolations, fifth-ranked Isaiah Kemper (McKendree) eliminated Falleroni with a 7-3 victory.
174 lbs. - No. 10 Edwards suffered a 7-3 loss to Nebraska-Kearney's ninth-ranked Zach Stodden in the first round. Edwards then battled back from an early deficit and used a takedown 13 seconds into overtime to earn a 15-13 decision over Augustana's Lucas Poloncic. However fourth-ranked Zach Johnstown (Minnesota State) pinned Edwards at 2:08, ending his tournament at 1-2.
197 lbs. - No. 10 Matt Blome (Minnesota State) used a takedown and back points in the third period to come from behind for a 9-5 win over sixth-rank Niebauer in the opening round. Niebauer was then pinned by Wisconsin-Parkside's James Lehman at 2:25 in the first round of the consolations.
