From 1975 through the 1980 season, Mr. Tim Nolen helped put Pitt-Johnstown men’s soccer on the map.  Mr. Nolen, who wrapped-up his stellar career as the school’s leader in goals, goals per game average, and goals in a season, led the Mountain Cats to a West Penn Conference Championships in 1977 and 1979 and was named to the all-conference team in three of his four seasons playing for Pitt-Johnstown.
After graduating from Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia, where he played basketball and soccer, Mr. Nolen, brought his talents to Pitt-Johnstown to play for Head Coach’s Jim ‘Rock’ Herlinger and Pat Pecora.  A young squad struggled through Pat Pecora’s 1976 first season as head coach, but in 1977, led by Mr. Nolen, a 1976 all-conference choice, the Mountain Cats put it all together and won the  West Penn Division II Conference title in 1977.  That season, Mr. Nolen earned his second all-conference selection after scoring 13 goals.
An injured shoulder forced Mr. Nolen to sit out the 1978 season, but he returned in 1979, scoring 15 goals, and garnered his third West Penn All-Conference accolade.
When his Pitt-Johnstown playing days were over, Mr. Nolen, a three-year co-captain with teammate Bill Hopkins, held some of the program’s most coveted records.  His 40 career goals and his .77 goals per game average are still both Pitt-Johnstown records today.
In addition, Mr. Nolen’s 15 goals in leading Pitt-Johnstown to the West Penn Conference title in 1979 also stood atop the Mountain Cat record books.  In a 5-0 victory over Mercyhurst College that clinched the conference championship, Mr. Nolen accounted for four of the five goals.  The Mountain Cats then went on to defeat West Liberty State (W.Va.) College, 3-2, behind another goal from Mr. Nolen, to close out the season at 8-5-1.
Mr. Nolen graduated from Pitt-Johnstown in 1980 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and has worked in Information Technology for Verizon for more than 28 years.
He spent 13 years coaching recreational youth soccer and basketball and was an active member in his local school’s Parent Teacher Association.
Mr. Nolen and his wife Eve Perris have two children, Francesca and Mikaela.  The Nolen’s reside in Eastampton, N.J.
“To be inducted into the Pitt-Johnstown Athletics Hall of Fame is a great honor, and to be inducted alongside my teammates is fitting, since their effort and selflessness resulted in our success, winning multiple conference titles,” Mr. Nolen said.  “Congratulations to the other inductees, my teammates, as well as our soccer coach, Pat Pecora.”
