Mercyhurst Deals Mountain Cats PSAC Loss

Mercyhurst University scored five first half goals en route to a 7-0 PSAC victory over the Mountain Cats, Tuesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. With the loss Pitt-Johnstown fell to 2-9-0 overall and 0-5-0 in conference-play.

Joseph Korb scored just two minutes into the match off of a cross from Ewan Sharp, before the Lakers added additional goals in the eighth, 22nd, 36th, and 38th minutes to build a 5-0 halftime advantage.

Mercyhurst then netted a pair of second half goals to set the final at 7-0.

Korb and Dane Rimko scored two goals each to lead Mercyhurst.

Nick Smith earned the shutout in net for Mercyhurst while making one save. Tim Ofman took the loss for the Mountain Cats collecting six saves and allowing three goals. Nolan Levine added three saves and allowed one goal over the final 29 minutes.

With the win Mercyhurst improved to 8-3-0 overall and 5-1-0 in the conference.

The Mountain Cats will travel to Gannon University for a PSAC match on Saturday, before hosting West Chester University for another conference match on October 16 at 1:30 p.m.
