Men's Basketball Suffers 57-51 Loss at Bloomsburg

Junior forward Marcus Tullis (Johnstown, Pa.) scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down six rebounds, but the Mountain Cat basketball team suffered its second straight non-conference loss. This time, Bloomsburg University dealt Pitt Johnstown a 57-51 road loss on Wednesday. The Mountain Cats slipped to 3-3 on the year.
Pitt Johnstown battled back from a 17-7 deficit at the 13:30 point of the first half to cut the Bloomsburg lead to 29-27 at halftime. However, the Huskies never gave up the lead and increased it to 49-40 with 7:16 to play, before holding on for the six-point win.
Tullis, who scored 11 of his 21 points in the second half, was the only Mountain Cat to score in double figures. Tullis shot 10-14 from the field and 1-3 from the free-throw line. He also grabbed six rebounds, dished out two assists and made three steals, while freshman Danny Branch (Washington, D.C.) tallied seven points off of Head Coach Bob Rukavina's bench. Rashad Mintz (Washington, D.C.) and Andy Byer (Tire Hill, Pa.) each scored six points, and Chris Gilliam (Baltimore, MD) chipped in five points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the loss.
Pitt Johnstown connected on 47.8% (22-46) of its shots from the field, 30.8% (4-13) from three-point range and 42.9% (3-7) from the free-throw line. The Huskies shot an impressive 53.5% (23-43) from the field and out rebounded the Mountain Cats 30-20. Bloomsburg also made three three-pointers and shot 8-16 from the free-throw line.
John Allen scored 15 points and Adon El collected 12 points and seven rebounds to pace Bloomsburg, which improved to 4-3 on the season.
The Mountain Cats will break for finals before finishing the first semester against Penn State Greater-Allegheny on Saturday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
