Junior forward Chris Gilliam (Baltimore, MD) scored 13 points to become the 18th overall and just the sixth Mountain Cat player to reach the 1,000-point plateau in less than four seasons in Pitt Johnstown's 101-61 win over Columbia Union (MD) College, Saturday night in the Sports Center. The Mountain Cats, ranked #9 in the East Region, improved to 14-6.
Gilliam, who now has 1,009 career points, was one of five Mountain Cats to score in double figures. Gilliam finished 6-6 from the field and 1-2 from the free-throw line, while sophomore forward Quinton Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led all scores with 22 points on 9-12 shooting from the field and 4-5 from behind the three-point line. Senior guard Dwight Hines (Aliquippa, Pa.) and sophomore center Kyle Goldcamp (Pittsburgh, Pa.) each scored 15 points, and freshman forward Steve Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) added a career-high 11 points off of Head Coach Bob Rukavina's bench. Goldcamp pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and Davis added seven rebounds, while guards William Sharpe (Johnstown, Pa.) and J.J. Schumacher (Castle Shannon, Pa.) each dished out six assists.
With his 13 points, Gilliam is 14 points shy of Josue' Nieves (1997-00) for 16th place on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List. Hines, who eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone on Wednesday, stands in 17th place on the scoring list with 1,020 career points, just three points away from Nieves.
The Mountain Cats jumped out to a 20-4 lead with 15:19 to play in the first half and took a 44-24 halftime lead. Pitt Johnstown began the second half on a 12-3 run and increased the lead to 44 points with 7:54 to play, before going on to the 40-point victory.

Elvis Rivera's 17 points and seven rebounds and Darren Travis' 15 points led the way for Columbia Union, now 2-16 on the season.
