#15 Mountain Cats Cruise to 99-70 Win at Ohio Valley

Marcus Tullis (Johnstown, Pa.) scored 19 points to lead five Mountain Cats who scored in double figures and move into 13th place on Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Scoring List in a 99-70 victory at WVIAC foe Ohio Valley (WV) University on Thursday. The #15-ranked Mountain Cats are now 6-1 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Pitt-Johntown opened-up a 30-16 advantage with 7:35 to play in the first half on Danny Branch's (Washington, D.C.) three pointer, before taking a commanding 51-36 halftime lead. The Mountain Cats increased the lead to 72-47 on Tullis' lay-up and free-throw with 13:59 to play. Pitt Johnstown never let Ohio Valley get any closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
Tullis scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Branch had 17 points, including 5-11 from three point range, and eight rebounds, and Quinton Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) tallied 17 points, seven rebound and six assists. Head coach Bob Rukavina also got 16 points off of the bench from Andy Byer (Tire Hill, Pa.) and 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds from Patrick Grubbs (Turtle Creek, Pa.). William Sharpe (Johnstown, Pa.) chipped in eight points, six rebounds and a game-high seven assists in the victory.
Tullis, who entered the game tied with Chuck Bradford (1976-80) on the all-time scoring list, took over sole possession of 13th place on the list with his 19 points. Tullis' 1,097 points are 13 points shy of Paul Byer (2002-05) for 12th place on the scoring list. With his 17 points, Davis moved to within 17 points of becoming the 20th Mountain Cat to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
The Mountain Cats shot an impressive 56.3% (40-71) from the field, 44.4% (8-18) from three-point range and 73.3% (11-15) from the free-throw line, while holding the Fighting Scots to just 30.2% (26-86) shooting. Ohio Valley was also 9-25 from behind the three-point line and 9-14 from the charity stripe. Pitt-Johnstown out rebounded the Fighting Scots 52-41.
Lance Jones and Micah Mills led Ohio Valley with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Rodney Everage scored eight points and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds for the Fighting Scots, who dropped to 2-0 overall and 1-1 in the WVIAC.
Pitt-Johnstown will break for Finals Week, before traveling to Clarion University on Dec. 15. The Mountain Cats will play their next home game on Jan. 10, when WVIAC rival Fairmont State (WV) University visits the Sports Center for a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
