Mountain Cats Cruise to 94-36 Win Over Penn State-Fayette

Head Coach Bob Rukavina's Mountain Cat basketball team improved to 6-2 with a dominating, 94-36, win over visiting Penn State-Fayette, Monday night in the Sports Center. Chirs Gilliam's (Baltimore, MD) game-high 22 points led Pitt Johnstown on a night that saw every Mountain Cat who dressed score at least three points.
Gilliam scored 22 points on 9-10 shooting and pulled down five rebounds in just 15 minutes on the court. Sophomore guard Quinton Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored 10 points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out four assists, while Marcus Tullis (Johnstown, Pa.), Kyle Goldcamp (Pittsburgh, Pa.), William Sharpe (Johnstown, Pa.) and Jordan Medich (North Huntingdon, Pa.) all had eight points apiece. Tullis, Goldcamp, Sharpe, Medich and Steve Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) all tied Gilliam for team-high in rebounds with five. Senior guard J.J. Schumacher (Castle Shannon, Pa.) scored six points, had six assists and made three steals in the win.
The Mountain Cats jumped out to a 51-16 halftime lead on 57.1% (20-35) shooting in the first half. Pitt Johnstown, which held Penn State-Fayette at the 16-point mark from 8:27 in the first half to 14:03 in the second half, built the lead to 62 points, before going on to the 58-point victory.
Pitt Johnstown finished the game shooting 57.7% (41-71) from the field and 48.3% (7-16) from behind the three-point line, while holding the Roaring Lions to just 24.5% (13-53) shooting for the game. The Mountain Cats also out rebounded Penn State-Fayette, 46-25, and forced 23 turnovers, while committing just eight turnovers.
Michael Bogden led Penn State-Fayette with 21 points on 8-24 shooting, including 5-15 from three-point range. With the loss, the Roaring Lions fell to 0-9.
The Mountain Cats travel to the East Stroudsburg Tournament this weekend where they will take on Seton Hill University on Friday at 3:00 p.m. The consolation game is scheduled for Saturday at 3:00 p.m., with the championship game scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
