Mountain Cat Soccer Rolls, 7-1, Over Gallaudet

Sophomore forward Jason Swope (Indiana, Pa.) scored two goals and added a pair of assists to lead the Mountain Cat soccer team to a lopsided, 7-1, victory at Gallaudet (D.C.) University, Friday afternoon. Head Coach Eric Kinsey's team, which outshot Gallaudet, 32-3, for the match, evened its season record at 2-2-0.
The Mountain Cats climbed out to a 2-0 lead on sophomore forward Arik Misler's (Johnstown, Pa.) goals at 8:52 and 32:07, before sophomore midfielder Ben Sera (Irwin, Pa.) made it 3-0 off of an assist from Swope at 36:04. Swope then tallied his first goal of the match with just 23 seconds to play in the first half to give the Mountain Cats a 4-0 halftime lead.
Pitt Johnstown increased the lead to 5-0 on Swopes' second goal, before Gallaudet notched its only goal of the match in the 58th minute. The Mountain Cats followed with back-to-back goals by sophomore midfielder Vince Spillane Pittsburgh, Pa.) in the 70th and 87th minutes to set the final at 7-1.
Mountain Cat freshman goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) made two saves and gave up just one goal to improve to 2-2-0.
The Mountain Cats finish a four-match road trip at Columbia Union (MD) College on Sunday and Shepherd (WV) University on Tuesday, before returning home to host Mount Aloysius College on Thursday, at 4:30 p.m.
