Mountain Cat Soccer Suffers 3-1 Loss at Shepherd

09/19/2006

Mountain Cat junior forward Chris Hawkins (Scottdale, Pa.) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season, but it wasn't enough to carry the men's soccer team to a victory at Shepherd (WV) University, Tuesday afternoon. The Rams defeated Head Coach Eric Kinsey's Mountain Cats, 3-1. Pitt Johnstown is now 3-3-0 on the year.
Shepherd jumped out to a 2-0 lead 18 minutes into the match, before Hawkins scored to cut the lead to one in the 40th minute. However, the Rams added another goal in the second half and held the Mountain Cats scoreless the rest of the way.
Freshman goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) made three saves, but suffered the loss and fell to 3-3-0.
With the victory, Shepherd evened its record at 4-4-1.
The Mountain Cats return home to host Mount Aloysius College on Thursday, at 4:30 p.m., before traveling to Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College on Saturday.
