Men's Soccer Battles to 1-1 Tie With Davis & Elkins

Pitt Johnstown sophomore midfielder Ben Sera's (Irwin, Pa.) goal midway through the second half helped the Mountain Cat men's soccer team earn a 1-1 double overtime tie with visiting Davis & Elkins (WV) College, Wednesday afternoon. Head Coach Eric Kinsey's Mountain Cats are now 4-4-1 on the year.
The Senators took a 1-0 at the 21:07 mark of the first half and held that lead until Sera notched his fouth goal of the season at 64:27. Sera gathered a rebound off of a penalty kick and beat Davis & Elkins goalkeeper John Parsons with a goal to tie the score. Both teams battled through the end of regulation and a pair of overtime periods, but neither was able to score again.
Mountain Cat freshman goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) faced six shots on goal and and made five saves. Neff is now 3-4-1 on the season. Parsons was also impressive in net for the Senators. Parsons saved nine of the ten shots on goal he faced.
With the tie, Davis & Elkins is now 6-4-1 on the season.
The Mountain Cats host West Virginia Tech on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and Geneva College on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
