Men's Soccer Falls 1-0 at WJU in Quarterfinals of WVIAC Tournament

11/03/2009

Billy Wilson's goal 15 minutes into the match proved to be the game-winner, as No.-3 seeded Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University dealt the No.-6 seeded Mountain Cat men's soccer team a 1-0 loss in Tuesday's Quarterfinals of the 2009 WVIAC Tournament. Pitt-Johnstown's season came to an end with a 6-12-1 overall record.
Wilson scored the match's lone goal in the 15th minute when he turned Tony Trabert's long pass into a breakaway and beat Mountain Cat goal keeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) into the far right corner of the net.
Neff faced 14 Cardinals' shots and made six saves, but surrendered one goal and suffered the loss. Wheeling Jesuit goalkeeper Shane Young saw six Pitt-Johnstown shots and made two saves to earn the shutout.
With the victory, Wheeling Jesuit improved to 11-6-3 and advances to take on No.2-seeded Davis & Elkins (WV) College in the WVIAC Tournament Semifinals on Thursday.
