10/03/2006

Head Coach Eric Kinsey's Mountain Cat soccer team improved to 6-4-1 with a 1-0 home victory over visiting Geneva College, Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder Vince Spillane's (Pittsburgh, Pa.) unassisted goal in the first half proved to be the game-winner for Pitt Johnstown.
Spillane fired a long strike and beat Geneva goalkeeper Sam McCracken inside the far post at 23:19 to give the Mountain Cats what would be the match's only goal.
Mountain Cat gaolkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) made five saves to earn his second shutout of the season. Neff improved to 5-4-1 on the season.
As a team, Pitt Johnstown outshot Geneva, 17-9. The Mountain Cats also had just three shots on goal, while the Golden Tornadoes collected five shots on goal.
With the loss, Geneva dropped to 0-7-3 on the year.
The Mountain Cats travel to Salem International (WV) University on Saturday, before returning home to host La Roche College on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
