Mountain Cats Score Two Late Goals to Defeat Seton Hill

Bryce DeLizio (Chandler, AZ) and Colm Spillane (Pitsburgh, Pa.) each scored goals in the final seven minutes to help the Mountain Cat soccer team erase a 2-1 deficit and earn a 3-2 WVIAC victory at Seton Hill University, Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Pitt-Johnstown improved to 6-6-0 overall and 4-4-0 in the WVIAC.
Steve Taslov (Coraopolis, Pa.) finished Zeke Buchta's (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) assist off of a scramble in the box in the second minute to put the Mountain Cats up 1-0.
Seton Hill quickly answered with the tying goal in the ninth minute, before the Griffins eventually took a 2-1 advantage in the 76th minute.
However, Pitt-Johnstown battled back. With time running short, DeLizio scored on a breakaway to tie it in the 83rd minute. Four minutes later, Marc Bucci (Pittsburgh, Pa.) set-up Spillane, who scored on a blast from outside the box to put Pitt-Johnstown back in front with three mintues to remaining.
The Mountain Cats were able to hold off a late Griffins' push and went on the the 3-2 win.
Mike Cuccaro (Pittsburgh, Pa.) got the win in goal for Pitt-Johnstown after facing 26 shots, allowing two goals and making 11 saves. Jon DeLuca took the loss for Seton Hill. DeLuca surrendered all three goals and made a pair of saves.
With the loss, the Griffins dropped to 4-10-1 overall and 3-4-0 in the WVIAC.
The Mountain Cats travel to the University of District of Columbia for a non-conference match on Saturday, before returning home to host Shepherd (WV) University for a Senior Day WVIAC match on October 26 at 1 p.m.
