Davis & Elkins Eliminates Mountain Cats in WVIAC Quarterfinals

Fourth-seeded Davis & Elkins (WV) College built a 2-1 lead and went on to end the fifth-seeded Mountain Cat men's soccer season with a 3-1 victory in the WVIAC Tournament Quarterfinals, Tuesday night in Buckhannon, W.Va.. Zeke Buchta (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) tallied the goal for Pitt-Johnstown, which finished with a 7-9-0 record.
Davis & Elkins went into the halftime break leading 1-0, before the Senators made it 2-0 early in the second half. The Mountain Cat cut the deficit to 2-1 on Buchta's goal midway through, but Davis & Elkins added an insurnace goal late to set the final at 3-1.
Mike Cuccaro (Pittsburgh, Pa.), who leads NCAA Division II in saves per game, took the loss for Pitt-Johnstown after allowing all three goals.
With the win, Davis & Elkins improves to 12-5-1 and advances to the WVIAC Semifinals at top-seeded University of Charleston (WV) on Thursday.
