Mountain Cats Fall in Overtime at Davis & Elkins

09/11/2010

Zeke Buchta (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) scored a pair of second half goals to tie the score at three, but Brandon Tenney's goal in overtime led Davis & Elkins (WV) College to a 4-3 home WVIAC victory over the Mountain Cats on Saturday. Pitt-Johnstown dropped to 1-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the WVIAC.
Bryce DeLizio (Chandler, AZ) gave the Mountain Cats a 1-0 advantage on a breakaway in the box eight minutes into the match, but the Senators answered with three straight goals, including two to close out the first half to give Davis & Elkins a 2-1 halftime lead.
Pitt-Johnstown battled back with two goals in just over a minute to tie it midway through the second half. Buchta scored in the 65th minute off of Kevin Kearney's (Wexford, Pa.) assist in the 65th minute, before Buchta tied the score a minute later on a penalty kick goal.
However, Tenny beat Mountain Cat goalkeeper Nolan Levine (McDonald, Pa.) seven minutes into the first overtime to give the Senators a 4-3 victory.
Levine saw 14 Davis & Elkins shots and made three saves, but took the loss and slipped to 1-2-0.
With the win, the Senators improved to 1-2-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play.
The Mountain Cats host conference rivals Ohio Valley (WV) University on Tuesday and Concord (WV) University on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled to kick-off at 2 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
