Mountain Cats Get Five Second Half Goals in Win at A-B

Josh Wentz (Greentown, Pa.) scored two goals and Clay Kubrick (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added three assists as the Mountain Cats scored five unanswered goals in the final 31 minutes to earn a 5-0 victory at Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College on Saturday. Pitt-Johnstown has won four of its last five matches and improved to 7-5-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the WVIAC.
After 58 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Mountain Cats got an unassisted goal by Tyler Aldinger (Elizabethtown, Pa.) in the 59th minute, before breaking the match open with four more goals in a span of 22 minutes. Zeke Buchta (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) scored on a free kick five minutes later to make it 2-0 Wentz then followed with back-to back goals in the 71st and 81st minutes off of assists from Kubrick. Pitt-Johnstown set the final at 5-0 in the 85th minute when J.P. Schantz (Nazareth, Pa.) took a corner kick from Kubrick and beat Alderson-Broaddus goalkeeper Neil Wright-Elliott.
Mike Cuccaro (Pittsburgh, Pa.) got the shutout in goal for the Mountain Cats after facing eight shots and making five saves. Wright-Elliott saw 12 shots and didn't make a save for the Battlers.
With the loss, Alderson-Broaddus fell to 1-9-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the WVIAC.
The Mountain Cats host a WVIAC match against Seton Hill University for SeniorDay on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before traveling to Shippensburg University on Saturday.
