Men's Soccer Earns 1-0 Win at California (PA)

Freshman midfielder Joshua Wentz (Wallenpaupack, Pa.) broke a scoreless tie when he netted the match's lone goal in the 61st minute to lead the Mountain Cat men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at California University (PA) in Wednesday's regular season finale. With the win, Pitt-Johnstown improved to 9-8-1.
After a scoreless first half, Wentz beat California (PA) goalkeeper Derek Yobbi with an unassisted goal in the 61st minute to give the Mountain Cats the win.
Pitt-Johntown goalkeeper Michael LoPresti (Karns City, Pa.) earned the shutout in his first action of the 2008 season. LoPresti faced 19 shots and made 12 saves to earn the win and improve to 1-0-0. Yobbi suffered the loss after surrendering one goal and making one save.
With the loss, the Vulcans dropped to 10-7-2 on the season.
Pitt-Johnstown will open play in the 2008 WVIAC Tournament on Tuesday at a site and against an opponent to be determined.
