Men's Soccer Ties Seton Hill, 1-1

For the second straight match, the Mountain Cat soccer team came away with a tie. This time, sophomore goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.), this week's WVIAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, gave up just one goal and made 15 saves to help Pitt Johnstown preserve a 1-1 tie at Seton Hill University in Wednesday's WVIAC match. The Mountain Cats are 8-3-2 overall and 3-1-2 in WVIAC action.
Seton Hill's Mike Oliver gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 16 minute mark of the first half, before Pitt Johnstown's Ben Sera (North Huntingdon, Pa.) took Nik Buckta's (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) pass and found the back of the net to tie the score in the 27th minute. Neither team was able to score again through the rest of regulation and two overtime periods.
Neff faced 18 shots, including 16 shots-on goal, and made 15 saves. Neff is now 7-2-2 on the season for the Mountain Cats, ranked #6 in this week's NSCAA/Adidas Appalachian Region poll. Seton Hill's John Bingham saw 15 shots and made six saves.
With the tie, Seton Hill is now 4-7-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the WVIAC.
The Mountain Cats continue a stretch of three straight WVIAC road matches at Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Saturday. Pitt Johnstown will host its next home match against Ohio Valley (WV) University on Saturday, October 20 at 4:00 p.m.
