Novak Earns Second WVIAC Player of Week Honor

Mountain Cat sophomore guard Nick Novak (Murrysville, Pa.) has been named WVIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season after averaging 27 points, five rebounds, and four assists per game in a pair of Pitt-Johnstown victories. Novak was also 17-21 from the field and 20-21 from the free-throw line.
In a double-overtime win against Shepherd (WV) University on Thursday, Novak buried 10-13 field goals and connected on 11-12 free throws. Novak finished with a game-high 31 points, dished out five assists, and grabbed four rebounds.
Novak followed that effort up with 23 points on 7-8 shooting and 9-9 from the free-throw line in a 93-74 win over Atlantic Region No. 8 West Virginia State University, Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. He pulled down six rebounds and dished out three assists.
Novak, who was also tabbed WVIAC player of the week on Nov. 15 joins, Patrick Grubbs (Turtle Creek, Pa.) as Pitt-Johnstown's second multiple-weekly award winner. Grubbs was named player of the week on Jan. 10 and Jan. 24. In addition, Danny Branch (Washington, D.C.) was honored as conference player of the week on Nov. 30.
