Pitt-Johnstown senior forward Marcus Tullis (Johnstown, Pa.) and senior guard Quinton Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) have been named First-Team Men's Basketball All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) by the league's coaches, while freshman forward/center Patrick Grubbs (Turtle Creek, Pa.) earned a spot on the WVIAC All-Freshmen Team.
West Virginia State University senior guard Ted Scott, the 2006-07 WVIAC Player of the Year who missed last season with a serious knee injury, was named the league's 2008-09 Player of the Year. High-scoring Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University rookie Cedric Harris earned the nod as the WVIAC Freshman of the Year, while West Virginia State head coach Bryan Poore was recognized by his peers as the WVIAC Coach of the Year after leading the Yellow Jackets to the regular season title.
Tullis and Davis, who have both been nominated for Daktronics All-Region honors, lead Pitt-Johnstown in scoring at 17.6 points per game each. Tullis and Davis are also averaging 6.1 rebounds per game apiece. Tullis is also averaging 2.1 assists per game. Tullis leads the Mountain Cats in blocks (30) and is second in field goal percentage (57.5%) and third in steals (24). Davis leads Pitt-Johnstown in three-point field goals, free-throw percentage (86.9) and steals, and is second in both assists (4.0 apg.) and blocks (25).
Tullis is currently fourth on the Pitt-Johnstown scoring list with 1,455 points and eighth on the rebounding list with 572. Davis is in seventh place on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List (1,345 points), seventh on the rebounding list (578 rebounds) and seventh on the all-time assist list (346 assists).
Grubbs stepped into head coach Bob Rukavina's starting line-up as a true freshman and led the Mountain Cats in rebounding (8.2 rpg.) and field goal percentage (61.9%) and finished third in scoring (10.4 ppg.) on his way to being named to the WVIAC All-Freshman Team.
