Chris Gilliam, Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet Place Fifth At College Basketball Invitational

Chris Gilliam (Baltimore, MD) scored eight points and pulled down six rebounds to help his team, Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet, earn a 125-99 victory over MBM Logistechs and a fifth place finish at Friday's 2008 College Basketball Invitational in Wadsworth, OH... (Box Score)
The Collegiate Basketball Invitational is a major national basketball event that gathers the finest 64 senior men's basketball players from all of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and Division III and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I and Division II.
In 24 minutes, Gilliam was 4-6 from the field and pulled down five of his six rebounds on the defensive end. He also collected one assist and one steal.
Anthony Williams of Plattsburgh St. scored a CBI Tournament single-game record 34 points and DeAndre Townsend also made history with his 17 assists to lead Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet to the fifth place finish and a 2-1 record at the tounament. Leading the way for MBM Logistechs was Ben Strong of Guilford with 21, while Josh Porter of LSU-Shreveport added 19.
On Thursday, Gilliam scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds in a 102-90 loss to open Thursday's 2008 College Basketball Invitational. Gilliam then had four points and five rebounds in a 104-99 victory in Thursday's second game to help his team advance to the fifth place game.
The event is taking place at Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth, OH. Each team has eight players in an eight-team bracket. Six games will be played both Thursday and Friday with the championship game being played Friday night at 8 p.m. The CBI will conclude with an all-star game Saturday evening at 8 p.m. in front of a live, ESPNU audience as 20 players will selected to play in the game.
