Gilliam Tabbed WVIAC Co-Player of the Week

01/07/2008

Mountain Cat senior forward Chris Gilliam (Baltimore, MD) averaged 22 points, four rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in Pitt Johnstown's victories over Shippensburg and Shepherd on his way to being named WVIAC Men's Basketball Co-Player of The Week. Gilliam shares the weekly honor with West Virginia State University's James Helton.
Gilliam scored in a game-high 24 points and layed in the game winning basket as time expired to lead Pitt Johnstown over Shippensburg on Wednesday. Gilliam followed that performance with 20 points, including 18 points in the second half, to guide the Mountain Cats to a 70-58 win over WVIAC rival Shepherd (WV) University on Saturday.
With his efforts, Gilliam pushed his career point total to 1,290. He needs just 13 points to climb into fifth place on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List.
Helton, a senior forward from Columbus, OH, poured in 23 points and grabbed six rebounds to key West Virginia State's impressive 93-57 league win over Concord (WV) University on Saturday.
