Wrestlers Claim Virginia Duals Title With 31-9 Win Over Nassau C.C.

In Friday's 43-3 opening round win over Davidson (N.C.) College, Link and NCAA No. 1-ranked Valko earned decision wins to put the Mountain Cats up 6-0. Davidson won its lone bout of the match and cut the deficit to 6-3 when Vitaly Radsky handed 2009 All-American Whetstone, 4-2 at 141 lbs. However, Pitt-Johnstown put the match away in a hurry after that. The Mountain Cats won the next seven bouts and recorded four falls en route to the lopsided victory. McIntyre got the first fall when he pinned Carl Sandercock at 2:14 at 149.lbs. Lundgren scored a 9-1 major decision over Brent Mowry, and Keane won a 12-5 decision over Tyler Mullen at 165 lbs. to increase the lead to lead to 19-3. The Mountain Cats got three pins and a forfeit to close out the match. Makin pinned Jorge Estrada at 1:16, and Walsh followed with a fall over Ike Crews at 2:42. After Brentzel's forfeit victory at 197 lbs., Dempsey set the final score at 43-3 by pinning Charlie Wolff at 4:13.
