Volleyball Tips-Off With Sweep Over Ohio Valley

Head Coach Linda Renzi got 10 kills from Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) and 21 set assists from Taylor King (York, Pa.) in a 3-0 sweep over Ohio Valley (WV) University in a non-conference match, Tuesday night in the Sports Center to tip-off the 2010 season. Pitt-Johnstown swept the Fighting Scots 25-14, 25-19, 25-20.
Hrescak had 10 kills on 18 attacks to lead Pitt-Johnstown. Hrescak also collected a service ace, 13 digs and a pair of block assists, while King posted a game-high 21 assists.
Freshmen Ashley Dirado (Greensburg, Pa.) and Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) each had seven kills. Jessica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) and Lindsay Roush (Johnstown, Pa.) chipped in six and five kills, respectively.
Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) added 17 set assists, and Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) led the Lady Cats with 16 digs.
Amanda Schell and Allison Graves led the way for Ohio Valley with seven kills apiece.
The Fighting Scots dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats will host a non-conference match against Gannon University on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to Point Park University Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
