Point Park Sweeps Lady Cat Volleyball

For the second time in four days, the Lady Cat volleyball team took on Point Park University. Unfortunately, the results were the same. Point Park dealt Pitt-Johnstown a 25-15, 25-13, 25-15 non-conference road loss on Tuesday. Jessica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.), Danielle Fleeger (Clarion, Pa.), and Tayler Vebares (Red Lion, Pa.) each had five kills to lead the Lady Cats, now 1-4 on the year.
Nikki Oakes (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had 16 set assists, and Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) added six assists, while Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) (17 digs) and Karen Schmidt (Boswell, Pa.) (7 digs) combined for 24 digs.
Ashley Dirado (Greensburg, Pa.) collected a block solo and six block assists, and Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) added a pair of block solos and a block assist.
With the win, Point Park improved to 9-1.
The Lady Cats travel to the WVIAC/PSAC Crossover Touranment in Erie on Friday and Saturday, before opening the home schedule with a non-conference match against Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday, Sept. 14 and a WVIAC match against Glenville State (WV) College on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Both home matches will start at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
