Volleyball Swept at WV Wesleyan in WVIAC Action

Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had six kills, and Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) added five kills, two block solos, one block assist and 10 digs, but the Lady Cat volleyball team fell to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the WVIAC following a 3-0 loss at West Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday.
West Virginia Wesleyan swept Pitt-Johnstown 25-22, 26-24, 25-16.
Ashley Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) and Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) had five kills apiece, while Taylor King (York,Pa.) and Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) collected 11 and eight set assists, respectively. Kimberly Shubra (Penn Run, Pa.) had 10 digs, and Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) chipped in six digs and a pair of service aces in the loss.
With the win, West Virginia Wesleyan raised its record to 4-10 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
The Lady Cats will host their first home match of 2009 against Penn State-Altoona on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown will also host WVIAC matches against Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College on Friday at 6 p.m. and Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Saturday at 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday's matches will be played at Richland High School due to Pitt-Johnstown Homecoming activities in the Sports Center.
