Volleyball Sweeps Ohio Valley for Third Straight Win

Pitt-Johnstown got 10 kills, four digs and a pair of block solos from Jessica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) to help the Lady Cat volleyball team make it three straight wins following a 25-9, 25-19, 25-14 WVIAC victory over Ohio Valley (WV) University, Friday night in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 10-13 overall and 6-5 in the WVIAC.
Karen Schmidt (Boswell, Pa.) and Kelsey Shanabrook (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) each added five kills in the sweep.
Ashley Dirado (Greensburg, Pa.) finished with four block solos and a block assist, while Tayler Vebares (Red Lion, Pa.) had three block solos and a block assist.
Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) led the way for Pitt-Johnstown with 18 set assists and eight digs, and Nikki Oakes (Pittsburgh, Pa.) chipped-in seven assists and three digs.
Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) ended the night with a game-high 16 digs for the Lady Cats.
With the loss, Ohio Valley fell to 6-21 overall and 1-9 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats travel to WVIAC matches at West Liberty (WV) University on Tuesday and Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Friday, before returning home to host West Virginia Wesleyan College for a Senior Night conference match on November 2 at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
