Volleyball Sweeps Ohio Valley in WVIAC Play

Ashley Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) collected 16 kills and a pair of block assists to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a 25-13, 25-15, 25-18 WVIAC sweep over Ohio Valley (WV) University, Friday evening in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 8-14 overall and 2-8 in conference play.
Along with Hogan, Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had eight kills, a block solo and a block assist, and Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) added five kills, a service ace and four digs. Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) (20 assts.) and Taylor King (York, Pa.) (16 assists) combined for 36 set assists. Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) had two service aces and led Pitt-Johnstown with 18 digs. King and Petrilla also had two aces apiece in the victory.
With the loss, Ohio Valley fell to 1-24 overall and 0-10 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats will host Chatham University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown will then wrap-up its 2009 home schedule by hosting West Virginia State University on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and the University of Charleston (WV) for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.
