Women's Volleyball Defeats WV Wesleyan in Five Games

Sophomore outside hitter Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) collected 10 kills and three block assists to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a victory in five games over WVIAC rival West Virginia Wesleyan College, Monday night in the Sports Center. With the win, Pitt-Johnstown improved to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in league play.
The Lady Cats defeated the Bobcats 14-25, 25-23, 25-16, 21-25 and 15-12.
Kayla Lape (Fishertown, Pa.) and Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) each had six kills, while Houser added three block assists. Head Coach Linda Renzi also got four kills, three block solos and three block assists from Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) and two block solos and two block assists from Sierra Steele (Windber, Pa.). Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) (20 assists) and Taylor King (York, Pa.) (13 assists) combined for 33 set assists. King added four service aces in the victory.
With the loss, West Virginia Wesleyan fell to 4-8 overall and 3-1 in the WVIAC.
Pitt-Johnstown will host Salem International (WV) Univesity on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and Ohio Valley (WV) University on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
