Basketball Teams Ranked in Final NCAA Stats; Grubbs 4th in FG % Novak 4th in FT%, Dalton 13th in Scoring

The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams are ranked among the NCAA Division II leaders in the most recent NCAA statistics released on Tuesday. As a team, the Mountain Cats were second in the nation in three categories, while junior center Patrick Grubbs (Turtle Creek, Pa.) was fourth in field goal percentage and sophomore guard Nick Novak (Murrysville, Pa.) was fourth in free-throw percentage. Grubbs, who led the country in field goal percentage in 2009-10, finished fourth at 67.5%. Grubbs was also 46th in rebounding (8.5 rpg.) and 64th in scoring (18.4 ppg.). Novak finished fourth in free-throw percentage (90.8%), 19th in assists per game (5.5), 40th in field goal percentage (55.9%), and 76th in scoring (18.0 ppg.). Senior guard Danny Branch (Washington, D.C.) was 18th in three-point field goals per game (3.1) and 50th in three-point field goal percentage (38.2%), while sophomore guard Jordan Miller (Vinco, Pa.) finished 23rd in three-point field goal percentage (41.9%), 29th in assist-to-turnover-ratio (2.21), and 61st in three-point field goals per game (2.6).
As a team, Head Coach Bob Rukavina's Mountain Cats ranked in the top-10 in six categories. Pitt-Johnstown was second in field goal percentage (51.9%), assists per game (20.4) and scoring offense (87.8 ppg.), third in personal fouls per game (14.0), and seventh in both three-point field goal percentage (39.9%) and in assist-to-turnover-ratio (1.39). The Mountain Cats were also 11th in three-point field goals per game (8.8), 18th in free-throw percentage (76.7%), and 78th in won-lost percentage (64.3%).
In the women's basketball statistics, Dalton ranked 13th in scoring (19.4 ppg.) and 62nd in rebounding (8.9 rpg.), and senior guard Sheena Aden (Sandy Lake, Pa.) was 37th in field goal percentage (52.4%), 39th in scoring (17.8 ppg.), and 94th in free-throw percentage (80.1%).
As a team, Head Coach Sasha Palmer's Lady Cats ended the year ranked 12th in personal fouls per game (14.0), 58th in scoring offense (70.6 ppg.), 63rd in field goal percentage (42.2%), 66th in three-point field goals per game (6.1), 71st in free-throw percentage (72.4%), 82nd in steals per game (9.8), and 84th in assists per game (14.2).
