Pitt-Johnstown got 16 kills from
Cambria Wierman and 11 kills from
Larissa Swank kills to battle back from a 2-sets-to-none deficit to defeat Slippery Rock University in Friday's first round of the PSAC Crossover in Slippery Rock. The Lady Cats improved to 10-5 overall and 6-4 in the PSAC.

Three early kills from Wierman and a pair from
Delaney Roman gave the Lady Cats an early 9-7 set-one lead. Slippery Rock answered with an 11-4 run to go up 18-13. The Rock would never surrender the lead. Pitt-Johnstown escaped two set points to cut it to 24-23, but Leah Jones' kill gave Slippery Rock the 25-23 win.

After the Lady Cats climbed out to a slim 8-6 advantage, The Rock took control and outscored Pitt-Johnstown 19-6 the rest of the way to take win the second set, 25-14. A 10-4 spurt erased the two-point deficit and gave The Rock a 16-12 lead, before the Lady Cats cut it to 16-14 on a bad set. However, Slippery Rock closed out the set with nine straight points, including an ace from Jones to record the final point.

Pitt-Johnstown stayed alive with a convincing 25-11 victory in the third set. Three straight kills by Wierman helped Pitt-Johnstown race out to a 7-2 lead. Slippery Rock narrowed it to 10-8 on Bethany Pike's kill, but the Lady Cats answered with a run 15-3 run to close it out.Â
Gabriell Carney's kill made it 20-10, before another kill from Carney ended the set and kept Pitt-Johnstown in the match.

Three consecutive aces from Roman and a kill from
Madeline George pushed the Lady Cat out to a 6-2 advantage in the third set.Â
Kendall Mahony's kill extended it to 15-8, and Pitt-Johnstown never looked back on its way to forcing a fifth and deciding set with a 25-14 win.

Pitt-Johnstown kept rolling and jumped out to a 7-3 lead on another kill from Wierman and cruised to the 15-11 victory to complete the comeback.

Wierman had 17 digs to go along with her 16 kill.  Mahony and Carney each chipped-in nine kills, and George had eight kills to help guide a balanced Lady Cat offensive attack. Pitt-Johnstown also got seven kills, four aces and 18 digs from Roman in the win.

Nikki Oakes finished with 26 set assists and nine digs, and
Nicole Curran had 20 assists and nine digs.Â
Devan Orr's 32 digs led the way for the Lady Cats.

Jones had 12 kills and Kristy Lake tallied 10 kills for Slippery Rock, which slipped to 11-7 overall and 5-5 in the PSAC.
