#14-Ranked Mercyhurst Defeats Mountain Cats, 8-2

Fourteenth-ranked Mercyhurst scored three goals in a span of three minutes en route to an 8-2 victory over Pitt-Johnstown in Tuesday's PSAC match at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field in Erie. Mike Mercea scored both goals for the Mountain Cats, who slipped to 1-11-0 overall and 0-6-0 in the conference. 

Ryan Lund opened the scoring in the 12th minute off of a corner kick from Danny Deakin. The Lakers went on a roll and added three goals in three minutes, one each by Jack Watson, Fernando Martinez, and Deakin to end the scoring for the first half and put Mercyhurst ahead 4-0. 

Watson then finished a rebound to add another goal in the 46th minute, before Deakin and Luke Troncone netted two more goals in five minutes.
 
Mercea sandwiched a pair of goals around a Mercyhurst own goal for the Mountain Cats.  Mercea got Pitt-Johnstown on the board in the 73rd minute off of a header, then tacked on another in the 89th minute off of a free kick.

Tim Ofman suffered the loss in goal for Pitt-Johnstown after seeing 31 Lakers' shots and making 11 saves. Daniel Lowton earned the victory in net for Mercyhurst after making one save and allowing two goals. 

Mercyhurst improved to 11-2-0 overall and 6-1-0 in the PSAC.

The Mountain Cats will host a PSAC match on Saturday at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field against Gannon University at 4 p.m., before traveling to West Chester University on Wednesday for another conference match.
