West Liberty (WV) University raced out to a 2-sets-to-none lead and went on to defeat the Lady Cats, 3-1 in a non-conference match, Wednesday night in West Liberty, W.Va.Â
Cambria Wierman had nine kills, 10 digs, and three aces to lead Pitt-Johnstown, which dropped to 10-9.

The Lady Hilltoppers to the first two sets 26-24 and 27-25. Pitt-Johnstown came back with a 25-18 win, but West Liberty closed it out, 25-14.

In a tight first set that saw Pitt-Johnstown hold a lead as many as three points, the Lady Cats climbed out to a 13-9 advantage. West Liberty clawed back to knot at 21, before holding off Pitt-Johnstown 26-24 on Nicole Sadecky's kill to win the set.

The Lady Hilltoppers opened-up a five-point lead to start the second set, but a 9-0 Pitt-Johnstown run, capped by a
Nikki Oakes service ace and a west Liberty attack error put the Lady Cats in front, 14-10. The Lady Hilltoppers came back to regain the lead 22-20, then withstood a pair of Pitt-Johnstown set points, and claimed the set and a 2-0 lead with a 27-25 victory.

With their back against the wall, the Lady Cats came out in the third set and built a commanding lead on their way to a 25-18 win, finished off by a service ace.

However, West Liberty put the match away with a 25-14 win in the fourth set. After falling behind 2-0, the Lady Hilltoppers answered with a 17-8 and coasted to the victory.

Along with Wierman's nine kills,
Kendall Mahony had eight kills and eight digs, and
Larissa Swank added seven kills and two block assists. Pitt-Johnstown also got 25 set assists and seven digs from Oakes, and a team-high 33 digs from
Devan Orr in the loss.

Alexis Boyd finished with a match-high 14 kills, and Megan Lawless chipped-in 11 kills for West Liberty, which improved to 7-14 on the season.

The Lady Cats return home this weekend to host PSAC matches in the Sports Center against Millersville University on Friday at 7 p.m. and Shippensburg University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
