Mountain Cats Fall, 3-2, at Washington Adventist

2089Mike Mercea gave Pitt-Johnstown a quick 1-0 lead, but Washington Adventist (MD) University answered with three straight goals and held off the Mountain Cats, 3-2, in Sunday's non-conference match in Takoma Park, MD.  Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 0-3-0 on the year.

Mercea put the Mountain Cats in front with an unassisted goal six minutes into the match, but Washington Adventist battled back to take a 2-1 halftime advantage.

Emmanuel Ajayi tied it at one in the 11th minute, before Samuel Kahsai gave Washington Adventist the lead six minutes later.

Ajayi added his second goal which turned out to be the match-winner in the 67th minute.

Pitt-Johnstown narrowed it to 3-2 with just under two minutes remaining in regulation when Mike Doller found the back of the net off of a corner kick, but the Mountain Cats couldn't get any closer.

Nate Kleya saw 11 Washington Adventist shots and made three saves, but allowed all three goals.  Jordhon Horelin earned the win in goal for Washington Adventist after facing 19 Mountain Cats shots, making seven saves, and allowing a pair of goals.

With the victory, Washington Adventist improved to 2-1-1.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC matches at Lock Haven on Friday and Bloomsburg on Saturday, before returning home to host a non-conference match against Goldey-Beacom (DE) on September 24 at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
