The Lady Cat volleyball team made it two straight PSAC victories with a 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-23 victory, Tuesday night at Lock Haven University.
Kendall Mahony had 18 kills to lead Pitt-Johnstown, which improved to 8-4 overall and 4-3 in conference-play.
In a tight opening set with neither team leading by more than three points, Pitt-Johnstown scored a final 3 points to erase a 23-22 deficit to earn a 25-23 victory.
Larissa Swank's kill capped a 4-0 Pitt-Johnstown run that put the Lady Cats in front 12-11 in the second set, but Lock Haven battled back to go in front 18-14. The Lady Cats narrowed it to 20-18, but the Bald Eagles held off Pitt-Johnstown 25-20 to even the match at one set apiece.
Pitt-Johnstown raced out to a 9-2 lead in the third set and never looked back. The Lady Cats closed out the 25-18 win a tip from Mahoney to give the Lady Cats a 2-sets-to-1 advantage.
Pitt-Johnstown climbed out to a 15-11 lead in the fourth set, until the Bald Eagles countered with an 8-1 run to go up 19-16. However, the Lady Cats rebounded to score six of the final seven points to put the match away with the 25-23 victory.
Devan Orr had 26 digs and
Cambria Wierman collected 18 digs, while
Nikki Oakes had 22 set assists with
Nicole Curran's 18 set assists to lead the Lady Cats to victory.
Lock Haven, who got 14 kills from Megan Flick, slipped to 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the PSAC.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC matches at West Chester University on Friday Cheyney University on Saturday. The Lady Cats will play their next home match on October 17 when Millersville University visits the Sports Center.
