Kendall Mahony had a match-high 16 kills, and
Marissa Erminio added 11 kills to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a 3-1 season-opening victory over West Virginia Wesleyan College in Friday's first round of the Indiana University (PA) Crimson Hawk Invitational.
After dropping the first set 25-20, Pitt-Johnstown stormed back with 25-20, 25-20, and 25-12 wins to put the match away.
Along with her 16 kills, Mahony had four block solos, five block assists, and three service aces, while Erminio added a block solo and a block assist.
The Lady Cats also got nine kills from
Cambria Wierman and nine digs from
Devan Orr in the victory. Nikki Oaks (19 assists) and
Nicole Curran (16 assists) combined for 35 set assists.
Erin Bond and Stacie Baumann each had seven kills to lead the way for West Virginia Wesleyan.
Pitt-Johnstown wraps up the Crimson Hawk Classic on Saturday against the University of Charleston (WV) and Malone (OH) University, before traveling to the College of Saint Rose (NY) Next weekend for a tri-match with Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College.
