Maura Brehl had a match-high 10 kills in a 25-12, 25-18, 25-20 sweep Pitt-Johnstown volleyball sweep over Indiana University (PA) in Friday's opening round of the 2015 PSAC East-West Crossover in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown made it 13 straight wins and improved to 17-2 overall and 10-0 in the PSAC Eastern Division.

Pitt-Johnstown took early control of the first set and never looked back. The Lady Cats raced out to a 14-2 on a
Cambria Wierman service ace and an IUP ball handling error. Two straight Natalie Cignetti kills got the Crimson Hawks back to within nine, but
Maura Brehl's ace followed by another error by IUP gave Pitt-Johnstown its largest lead of the set at 23-9 and the Lady Cats coasted to the 25-12 win.

It was more of the same in the second set, as Pitt-Johnstown built a 10-4 on
Kendall Mahony and
Marissa Erminio's shared block. IUP battled back to cut it to 11-9 on a Lily McWilliams kill, but the Lady Cats pulled away with an 8-1 run, highlighted by three straight Brehl kills, to extend it to 19-11. The Crimson Hawks never got closer than six the rest of the way in Pitt-Johnstown 25-18 win.

The third set was much tighter. IUP erased a two-point deficit and took a 14-1 lead on an Alexis Anderson kill and a Pitt-Johnstown error. The Lady Cats responded to tie it at 18, then rebuild the lead, 22-18, on three consecutive kills from Wierman and one from Mahony. Two more kills from Mahony and an IUP attack error closed out the Lady Cat sweep with the 25-20 victory.

Along with Brehl, Wierman had nine kills, two aces, and nine digs, while Mahony collected nine kills and four blocks for Pitt-Johnstown. Erminio added seven kills, and
Allison Mondorff had five kills, a team-high 20 set assists, and two blocks, and four digs.

Devan Orr finished with a match-high 16 digs.Â
Delaney Roman added seven digs, and
Jessica Dillon had 16 assists and three digs for the Lady Cats.

IUP, which slipped to 13-6 overall and 6-4 in the PSAC Western Division, was led by McWilliams and Cignetti, who tallied nine kills apiece.
