Cambria Wierman had a match-high 12 kills and 13 digs, and
Marissa Erminio added 10 kills and a block to lead the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team to a 25-12, 25-16, 25-21 non-conference sweep over Shepherd (WV) University, Tuesday night in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 20-3 on the season.

Pitt-Johnstown outscored Shepherd 16-3 to start the match and never let the Rams get closer than 11 the rest of the way. Wierman's kill gave the Lady Cats an 8-1 lead, before kills by
Kendall Mahony and
Madeline George pushed it into double digits at 13-3. Pitt-Johnstown then made it 16-3 on Mahony's service ace. The Rams narrowed the gap to 11 on three occasions after that, but Erminio and
Allison Mondorff collected kills that finished off the 25-12 win.

The Lady Cats used a kill from Erminio and a two straight Shepherd attack errors to double-up the Rams 14-7 midway through the second set.Â
Larissa Swank's kill increased it to 18-10, before shepherd pulled to within six at 21-15 on a kill by Christine Jackson. However, Pitt-Johnstown outscored the Rams 4-1 secure a 25-16 victory and to go up 2-sets-to-none.

Shepherd held the lead for much of the third set, but the Lady Cats rallied to complete the sweep. The Rams opened-up a 16-12 advantage on Sophie Foster's kill, but Pitt-Johnstown came back to tie it at 16 on Mondorff's kill, before retaking the lead 20-19 on consecutive errors by the Rams. Shepherd knotted it again at 21, but the Lady Cats scored the final four points to close out the sweep, 25-21.

Along with Wierman and Erminio, George finished with five kills and a pair of blocks, while Mahony and Mondorff had three blocks apiece for the Lady Cats.

Mondorff and
Jessica Dillon each tallied 19 set assists. Pitt-Johnstown also got 16 digs from
Brittany Saetre, 12 digs from Mondorff, and eight digs and two aces from
Delaney Roman.

Shepherd was led by Jackson's seven kills and Taylor Allen's six kills. With the loss, the Rams slipped to 10-11 on the year.

The Lady Cats will host a PSAC match against West Chester University for their annual "Dig Pink Match" for Breast Cancer Awareness on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the sports Center, before hosting a non-conference match against Point Park University on Tuesday.Â
