After a handful of postponed and cancelled games due to the weather, the Pitt-Johnstown softball team finally got back on the field Monday afternoon. However, Seton Hill dealt Pitt-Johnstown 7-2 and 9-1 PSAC Western Division setback, dropping the team to 3-11 overall and 3-3 in conference-play.

In game one, Seton Hill jumped on Pitt-Johnstown starter
Melissa Wagner for six runs in the second inning and went on to the 7-2 victory.

After falling behind, Pitt-Johnstown answered with two unearned runs in the top of the fifth to cut it to 6-2, but that was as close as it would get.

Stephanie Seibert,
Karlie Tomich,
Taylor Hoover, and
Montana Mang all had singles to account for all four of Pitt-Johnstown's hits.

Wagner, who fell to 1-6, allowed all seven runs (6 earned) on 10 hits in six innings of work.

Christine Henderson went 3-for-3 with a two-run homerun and three RBI to lead Seton Hill.

In the nightcap, the Griffins erased a one-run deficit with two runs in each of the third and fourth innings, before breaking it open with five more in the fifth.

Pitt-Johnstown took a 1-0 lead in the third when Seibert led off with a single and eventually scored on a Tomich groundout. However, Seton Hill took control and outscored Pitt-Johnstown 9-0 the rest of the way.

Marley Elbin was 2-for-3, while Seibert added a hit, and Tomich collected the lone RBI.

Rachel Hoffman got the start in the circle for Pitt-Johnstown and fell to 2-4. Hoffman gave up nine runs (8 earned) on 10 Seton Hill Hits.

Carlee Wickstrom had a homer, two doubles, and three RBI, and Henderson added two more hits and three more RBI to help the Griffins complete the sweep and improve to 13-5 overall and 5-3 in the PSAC-West.

Pitt-Johnstown is scheduled to host a conference doubleheaders against Edinboro on Tuesday and PSAC California University (PA) on Thursday, before traveling to Indiana University (PA) for a PPSAC-West doubleheader on Friday. All three doubleheaders are scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.Â
