A new era of Pitt-Johnstown athletics began when the Pitt-Johnstown softball team took the field for the first time in school history, Sunday morning in Clermont, Fla. However, Pitt-Johnstown suffered a 7-0 loss to the University of Charleston (WV).
Charleston, which improved to 5-1 on the year, opened-up a 4-0 lead after two innings and went on to shut out Pitt-Johnstown, 7-0.
Rachel Hoffman got the start in the circle in the program's inaugural game and surrendered all seven runs on seven hits in a complete-game effort. Hoffman also struck out four and didn't allow a walk.
Amanda O'Toole singled, and
Stephanie Seibert added a double to account for both of Pitt-Johnstown's hits.
